A Glimpse into the Life and Aspirations of Nicholas Ritch

There are always things that can be improved upon, even in a great town like Monroe! Here are some of my top priorities, I look forward to talking to community members about their concerns and ideas on how we can continue to keep Monroe amazing!

  • Clean Drinking Water: I want to ensure the residents of Monroe have access to clean drinking water from the Long Tom River, requiring adequate staff and regular monitoring at the Water Treatment Plant so that the city’s water quality meets state guidelines. I would like to work towards technological improvements at the Water Treatment Plant that are both affordable for the city while safeguarding Monroe’s water quality from future issues.

  • Keeping Monroe Safe for All: As the father to two young children, feeling safe in Monroe is important to me. This means well-maintained roads, safe walkways for cyclists and pedestrians, and attention to concerns from the community. As a resident of downtown Monroe, these are issues I can identify firsthand and address with other members of council.

  • Support New & Existing Business: It is important to Monroe’s future to find a balance between attracting new growth and supporting existing businesses – all while keeping the small-town charm that we love about Monroe. I believe that working together and with community input, we can find options that work for all. As a small business owner myself, I understand what challenges a locally owned business can face. I would like to support several efforts underway to bring additional resources to our town, including the Riverside District master plan and the Monroe Arts Association center.

  • Transparent and Open Public Meetings: Our community members come from all walks of life and have a variety of personal obligations which can keep them from being informed of the decisions being made at public meetings. I want to make all public city meetings available via live stream for those community members who are unable to attend, as well as have prior meetings available to view online at anytime so all community members may have access, regardless of their personal schedules.
